I think we each have our own time of year where we come alive. Having recently went to twitter asking the question when are people “most effective”, it would appear winter is the time to shine for a number of those in the community. The realisation has arrived, this is the time of year where I peak. I can’t complain really, the last week has been epic as far as productivity goes.

The week that was, ending 6th October

Blogtober 2019 kick off

The blogosphere took to the keyboards starting last week with the inaugural launch of the annual blogtober challenge. I participated in the challenge for the first time last year and after seeing it land the top spot of my favourite month ever on my blog I just had to join the challenge again this year. Admittedly, I’m about 2 posts behind due to competing content priorities but I’ll catch up. So far its a tonne of fun. You can read my first four posts here;

Attention bloggers: #blogtober2019 has arrived!

The intro piece. The best place to start when chewing through my posts this month.

September Favourites – Ivan Siladji

I love doing these. It’s a great opportunity to share what I’m interested in. I was also stoked to connect with one of my favourite podcasters, Ali Abdaal after doing a nice review of he and his brother Taimur’s podcast, Not Overthinking.

Book Review: Show Your Work by Austin Kleon

I enjoyed penning this little book review of one of my now-favourite authors, writers, and bloggers, Austin Kleon. I’ve been so inspired to share more of my work after reading this book. There is also a great feeling of reward and joy in doing so because of the perspective this book has bought to my creative output. An acknowledgement from Austin on twitter just topped it off.

A selfie stick, of sorts.

I took a completely different approach with this piece; showing my work ;) And I learned that it’s possible to use GIFs in blog posts as well as featured images. Such a dynamic addition to a blog post.

The launch of my new podcast ‘Journey to Wherever’

This was arguably the biggest highlight of my work & week. My mate and brother-in-law had been planning a podcast for nearly two years. Amongst family, work, business, blogging and the rest that is life, it took some time. But, we launched last week! And with some fantastic support and feedback so far.

Journey to Wherever is weekly podcast where two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, get together each week to record discussions that shouldn’t be left unsaid. In our first episode we introduced the show, laid out our expectations and of course, let the listeners know who we are. In episode 002 we dived deep into whether a university degree still has value. It’s controversial. In each episode we try to bring with us our true personalities, laughs and well thought out conversations. New episodes every Tuesday (Monday if we get a little too excited), and, it’s coming to all major podcast platforms as the days go by. It would mean a lot to us both if you had a listen and subscribed. Let me know what you think of the show.

Between both the podcast and this blog, along with my normal day job and family life, my to-list is about as stacked up as it can be.

The week that was has been super busy, but largely productive. It’s been loads of fun and has bought new connections into my life. All in all, a great start to October.

I’d love to know what’s happening in your life. You can leave me a comment below or connect with me on twitter.
