Dear Journal,

I’m getting awfully good at these spring time BBQs. Sweet Baby Rays Buffalo Wing Sauce on the chicken went down like a treat this afternoon. A Christmas Ginger Bread Man awaits for desert.

Little Everly is sleeping longer through the nights lately. A little unsettled today but all the more sweet. She likes to sleep with her hand under her cheek. 10 days today. She’s perfect.

It’s the first day of NaNoWriMo. I purchased a copy of Scrivener for my iPad to begin writing. Today I did a few tutorials just to get my head around how to structure the binder and the likes. I’d hate to have written the entire manuscript only to find out I didn’t structure it in a way that’s conducive to a correct export later.

One thing I need to do a little more of is set aside time to go through my outstanding notifications and read a little more blogs out there. Admittedly this last week I’ve been enjoying the week with wife and baby. But I’ve made some great friends over the last month so I’d like to give a little back to them by leaving some comments and giving their posts a read. I’m thinking tomorrow might be a good day while the wife and girls are at a breakfast. I can get some work done at a café.

Well, this manuscript isn’t going to write itself, and the ginger bread needs attention.

Ivan.

  1. Congratulations on welcoming Everly into the world. She’s so cute! My husband and I welcomed a newborn into the world this October too. I’m just in awe of him 😀

Good luck with tackeling NaNoWriMo this year! 50,000 words was challenging enough without a newborn to tend to.

    1. Congratulations. Your first? It’s such a special time, we love the newborn stage, everything about them is so amazing. Big congrats!

And thank you. We are chuffed. Everly is so sweet. Barely makes a peep. Very different to our other two kids.

With writing NaNoWriMo… It’s been ok so far. I’ve had to get into a daily routine to sustain writing – drop kids off to school and straight to the corner seat at a cafe for 1.5hrs of solid writing. Only way to fit it in. But nice.

      You writing for it too?

      1. Thank you! This is our first. It’s been quite an adjustment, but I’m loving it.

I’m not participating in NaNo this year. This will be the first year I’m not attempting it. November…just sort of crept up on me.
