Dear Journal (and blogtober readers),
After months of burnout, after months of waiting till tomorrow, it’s finally the day, the last day of the work week in just 12hrs and then it’s a whopping month off. I plan to spend time with the new baby coming soon, with family, time for reading/writing, and of course, rest. I’m so ready, so burned out, I barely have energy to get excited. But I am.
I picked up a new book today, Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willing and Leif Babin. It’s about how U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win. Should be a great read. Thanks to Casey Neistat’s recent video I found out about the book. Let’s see if it makes my October Favourites list.
I really need to remember the difference between fiction and non-fiction. You’d think as a writer I’d know this stuff. Non-fiction is the real life stuff, right? And fiction is like, novels? I think that’s it.
The wife is officially a stay at home Mum from today. She had a carrot cake at work for her last day, a piece is waiting for me on the coffee table alongside my night coffee.
Ivan.
Ahh this post just screams ‘calm before the storm’ to me haha!
Hope you and your wife enjoy these last few days before the baby arrives

Hahaha. Don’t make me nervous. Lol.
Honestly, even with our first two, the first month is the best. Life is crazy busy in general so the peace that surrounds a new born is so nice. Yes there will be some sleepless nights, but the joy outweighs it šš
Thanks for the well wishes. Have a lovely weekend!

Iām glad that you are able to take time off as well as your wife, I expect she is glad too, enjoy the time – and enjoy the carrot cake! š
Thanks Fiona. We are both very much looking forward to it and fortunate that we can do it. ššš
